We Create Space to Breathe
At Cove, we believe in building Space to Breathe, both literally and figuratively, into everything we do. We believe in it so much that it has become our Cove creed.
For our clients, we create Space to Breathe by implementing insurance services that ensure financial security during times of emotional upheaval caused by a death, disability, or critical illness. Our planning aims to bring peace of mind in knowing that everything that can be done to plan continuity and for the unexpected has been done, creating Space to Breathe.
Internally, we are driven by our bigger purpose: to use our business to reduce stress and affect positive change. We abide by our motto, Space to Breathe, on a daily basis and judge our actions as skillful or unskillful by whether we create Space to Breathe in the execution of our duties and responsibilities to our clients, each other, and ourselves.
Cove serves individuals and their families across a broad spectrum of net worth and income scale, from beginning professionals and start-up companies to multi-generational ultra-high net worth family enterprises. Some families have been with us for more than 25 years, and we have grown our capabilities through direct experience and intentional learning to meet their needs.
The Cove Story (cont)
Cove Continuity Advisors Inc. started out in downtown Vancouver in 1989 as Geiss Financial Services Ltd. We moved to Deep Cove in 1998, changing the name to reflect what we cared about most: our community and working in an environment that inspired us. After 10 years in downtown Deep Cove, we moved to our current location in North Vancouver, where we can run the trails if we choose, but where we also have easy access to downtown. We are only 20 minutes from downtown Vancouver (close to the north end of the Second Narrows bridge), and we have lots of free parking! Our first foray into fee-based financial planning came in 1991 when Bernie (our president) was engaged by a partner in a top Vancouver tax law firm to help illustrate his retirement income. Using software that Bernie developed himself, he was able to model assets and income in a sophisticated manner that was not otherwise available. We continue to use proprietary and third-party software to provide exceptionally detailed income and asset modelling for our clients. Bernie won the Advisor of the Year in 2001 for BC and the Yukon, sponsored by Advisors Edge Magazine, based on the planning he did for one of his clients. A Certified Financial Planner (CFP), he continues to push to improve the planning services delivered by Cove.
