Cove is on the move…
We are excited to announce that Cove is on the move. After 15 years in our current Dollarton Road location, we have decided to continue our evolution to become a true virtual office. We started the virtual journey in 2019, prior to the pandemic, because of the many advantages that working from home creates. It means less commuting, more flexibility in managing our workdays, greater work-life balance and the economic advantage of lower overhead. We had adopted many of the technologies and practices to operate virtually in the months leading up to the pandemic, but we decided to test it while waiting out the COVID chaos before making any permanent changes to our bricks and mortar premises. With the dramatic rise in rents on the North Shore, our lease ending in September of 2025, and our team’s preference to work from home we knew it was time to make the change.
Cove will continue to maintain a physical office at 220-145 Chadwick Court, North Vancouver, BC V7M3K1, but on a reduced scale. Our new office will have a reception area for mail and courier deliveries, a meeting room for client and team meetings and two workspaces for those times we wish to work outside of our homes.
These changes coincide nicely with Christie’s and my move to Squamish where we will work out of our new home offices. Christie and I packed up and moved to Squamish in January to escape the growing rat race pace and traffic problems of North Vancouver for a smaller town hosting some of the most breathtaking scenery in the world. True to our passion for the outdoors our home is just walking distance from Squamish’s world class mountain bike trails on a quiet street with stunning views. We are hoping that the temptation to be out in the forest won’t be so strong that we won’t want to do any work.
The changes we are undertaking are part of our long-term vision for Cove. As a business that focuses on helping individuals, businesses and professionals navigate transition it seemed only fitting that Cove has a long-term continuity plan of its own. One of our main objectives is to plan for Christie’s and my smooth exit from Cove ownership in June of 2027. This will allow us the freedom to retire or continue contributing to Cove at our own pace without the ownership and management responsibilities and stress. We are looking forward to that part of the equation.
Planning began in 2015 with our first step towards implementation in 2018 when Warren Campbell, a long-time associate of mine, became a part owner of Cove. Our 25-year relationship has reinforced our trust in each other with shared values and a commitment to do insurance differently with a focus on transparency and accountability. Cove’s evolution has continued ever since with refinements to our governance model, the development of operational policies and procedures and the onboarding of our daughter, Nikki, Christie’s niece, Shanna and her husband, Alex. The future looks extremely bright with Warren taking on greater leadership responsibilities and our next generation stepping up to the challenge of making Cove an industry leader. In addition to our current amazing team, we are searching for new advisors and team members who align with Cove’s progressive approach to advice and product selection, to help grow Cove’s presence in the Canadian insurance space.
Above all else, even with all these changes, you can expect the same high level of service, advice, product quality, and accessibility that we have been committed to delivering to all our clients and partners across Canada.
